The Problem

Shopping Was Becoming More Social, But the Commerce Journey Was Still Fragmented

01

Product Discovery Was Becoming Content-Driven

Static listings were not enough. Pearly was designed around video-first discovery, so creators can showcase products through short videos, live streams, and influencer content.

02

Trust Was Critical

Users needed confidence in both the product and the person selling it, so the platform introduced a curated creator network, verification, secure payments, escrow, ratings, and reviews.

03

The Product Needed to Be Experienced

Some products are hard to understand from static images. Pearly added augmented-reality experiences and interactive product visualization so users can engage with products more immersively.

04

Discovery, Purchase, and Delivery Were Connected

A great discovery experience is not enough if the purchase and fulfillment journey stays fragmented. Pearly connects discovery to cart, checkout, payment, order management, delivery, and confirmation.

05

Creators and Influencers Needed More Than a Storefront

Creators needed tools for products, orders, inventory, content, customers, analytics, and payouts. Influencers needed a structured way to run campaigns, track conversions, and earn commissions.

Our Approach

Instead of treating Pearly as one application, we structured it as a connected ecosystem of experiences, linked through shared backend services for users, catalog, inventory, orders, payments, analytics, content, notifications, search, and recommendations. An action in one part of the ecosystem flows naturally into another.

The Pearly Experience
01

The Buyer Experience

Users discover products through a personalized feed, categories, creators, trending products, featured collections, and search. Discovery then continues through short-form creator videos, influence content, live shopping, 360° views, AR demonstrations, creator profiles, and recommendations.

02

Video as a Commerce Layer

Product content is shoppable. Users can watch product videos, view tagged products, open details, add to cart, follow creators, and save or share content without losing their place, shortening the path from Content → Product → Purchase.

03

Personalized Discovery

Recommendations consider previous behaviour, recently viewed products, categories of interest, creators followed, trending and highly rated products, and influencer picks, so discovery stays relevant instead of simply showing more products.

04

Immersive Product Experiences

Pearly incorporates augmented reality so users can interact with supported products through 3D rendering, visualization, and interactive AR demonstrations, adding confidence through experience.

05

Trust at Checkout

Trust is treated as a product feature. Secure payment processing and escrow hold funds until defined conditions are met, and payment connects to the wider order lifecycle: Order → Payment → Processing → Delivery → Confirmation.

06

Buy For Me

Pearly extends beyond its catalogue with a concierge service. Users can submit product descriptions, reference images, links, price ranges, quantity, and delivery preferences, and the team can source, quote, and fulfil the request through the platform's secure payment process.

07

The Creator Experience

A dedicated Creator Portal gives creators one operational workspace for onboarding and verification, product and inventory management, video content, orders, fulfillment, customer communication, analytics, events, service bookings, and payout tracking.

08

The Influencer Experience

The Influencer Portal lets influencers manage profiles, discover brand partnerships, run campaigns, receive content requirements, communicate with creators, track performance, monitor commissions, and manage payouts.

09

Live Shopping

Creators can host real-time shopping sessions where users watch, comment, ask questions, view featured products, and purchase. Sessions can remain available for replay, so content keeps generating value after the broadcast.

Connecting the Final Mile

A dedicated delivery application connects fulfillment to the final customer experience, with a defined lifecycle from order placed to confirmed delivery, including pickup, assignment, transit, and delivery tracking.

The Operational Outcome

From Social Discovery to Connected Commerce

Discovery, trust, transaction, fulfillment, and engagement are connected rather than managed separately. Buyers find and understand products, creators run their business, influencers turn audiences into measurable commerce, and delivery personnel know exactly what to move and where.

What We Learned

01. Social commerce is more than a feed

The experience has to connect content, discovery, trust, transaction, and fulfillment.

02. Trust needs to be designed in

Verification, secure payments, escrow, reviews, communication, and transparent order states all contribute to confidence.

03. Content can become the transaction

When products are connected to video and live content, the distance between discovery and purchase shrinks.

04. Different participants need different workspaces

Buyers, creators, influencers, and delivery personnel have different goals, so each gets an experience built around its workflow.

05. Commerce does not end at checkout

Order processing, delivery, confirmation, communication, and post-purchase engagement are equally important.

06. Personalization should support discovery

Recommendations should help users navigate the marketplace, not add another layer of complexity.

The Bigger Picture

Pearly represents a shift from traditional marketplace shopping toward content-driven, creator-led commerce. It brings content, creators, influencers, products, community, payments, and delivery into one connected experience, so discovery itself becomes part of the shopping journey. The long-term vision is a commerce ecosystem where creators build businesses, influencers drive measurable commerce, and transactions move from inspiration to delivery.
